How Do Healing Herbs Work?
Herbs contain properties that help to alleviate a variety of health problems. Herbs treat an individual's overall physical and emotional health and not just a specific symptom, and therefore work to prevent, as well as treat, a variety of illnesses, diseases and conditions. Herbs used with Reiki will enhance your desired result!
Antioxidants for Digestion and Disease
I make tea out of healing herbs daily to cleanse, maintain energy flow, relax, and balance. If I drink green tea daily for the sustainability of my health. Medicinally, green tea is full of antioxidants to aid with digestion, and protect your body against a host diseases brought about by free-radical damage. Several studies have shown that green tea is a medicinal herb that can help lower the risk of developing many types of cancer, including: cancer of the digestive system, prostate cancer, cervical cancer, and breast cancer. Studies have also shown that green tea also protects against heart disease by lowering cholesterol levels and preventing the blood clots that can lead to clogged arteries (atherosclerosis).
Turmeric is a healing herb that treats heart disease and a variety of other conditions related to inflammation and antioxidant damage, including cataracts, arthritis and cancer. While being treated with Reiki, my father included Turmeric in his diet to heal from Cardio Constrictive Disorder: a rare disease consisting of a gel-like substance surrounding and squeezing his heart so that it could not beat regularly.
Herbs are wonderful when I want additional help in digestion, and/or if my stomach is upset. I drink tea made from ginger root or peppermint leaves to soothe muscle spasms.
Colds and Respiratory
Peppermint is also an effective cough suppressant and cold remedy. There are many herbs to treat the common cold, but I mostly make tea from Anise during the winter months when I am prone to chest congestion and cough. Respiratory-related ailments that may benefit from Anise include the common cold, pneumonia, influenza, bronchitis, and sinusitis.
Antibiotics
Dandelion leaves are an excellent source of beta-carotene, vitamin A, vitamin C, and nutrients that act as antibiotics in the body. Black elderberry, astragalus and echinacea also have effective antibiotic properties.
Liver
I ingest Dandelion root daily to maintain the health of my liver. Milk Thistle is the most beneficial healing herb for liver detoxification, and fringetree root is beneficial for the strength of the liver.
Menstrual Cycle
Monthly, I drink tea made from Raspberry leaves to help with regularity of menstrual flow and cramping. Skull cap, parsley and ginger can also stimulate irregular periods. Reducing heavy blood flow can be helped with nettles, yarrow and shepherd's purse. Symptoms of PMS can be reduced with feverfew leaf, Don Quai root, and Burdock root.
