Should I Charge for Reiki?

Reiki is a precious gift that gives back!  While channeling positive life force energy, the practitioner also receives the healing effects of Reiki... Life's greatest gift!

While Mikao Usui was traveling around Japan sharing Reiki with the poor, homeless and destitute, he rarely asked for money in exchange for healings.

Usui has been the inspiration for many of us Reiki practitioners who prefer to trust in the universe to care for our needs.

When Dr. Hayashi opened his clinics, however, he did charge a nominal fee to cover his expenses. Today, there are many practitioners and teachers who do charge for treatments or workshops, but there are also those who do not.

For workshops, I am a firm believer in the exchange of valuables. Over the years, I have noticed that participants get more out of their Reiki workshop if they feel they have shared what they value most in return for their training. If you have a trade or service that you value more than money, I encourage you to share it with me; but I am strict about having a fair exchange. Learning and becoming attuned to Reiki is far too large of a commitment to be taken haphazardly.
