Reiki is the most profound, yet simplest way to heal ourselves and our lives! If you want to learn about Reiki and what it can do for you, continue on to read about its history and practical applications in your daily life.
It is a powerful and gentle hands-on therapy that promotes the body’s natural self-healing. It works on the basis that all living things are made of energy. When our flow of energy becomes blocked or depleted, we become sick, unhappy, stressed or weak. Reiki is a way of sharing positive life force energy to break-up and replenish our stagnant energy. This energy flows through your body to balance your energy centers or chakras.
A Reiki practitioner is trained to channel positive life force energy to balance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies of the recipient. The energy comes through the practitioner’s Crown Chakra (top of head). It travels out the practitioner’s hands into the recipient. The positive life force energy attaches to the negative blocked energy in the recipient’s body, carrying it away, releasing it, allowing your flow to be free.
Reiki is an energy healing technique that was discovered by a Japanese theology professor, Mikao Usui, in the late 1800’s. He learned that people have the power to channel positive life force energy for health benefits. He traveled around Japan, sharing the healing powers of Reiki, for decades. Slowly, but surely, through the history of this healing art form, Reiki came to the west in the late 1930’s.
Usui discovered that everything in the universe is made up of energy particles that form an omniscient power known as "Rei" in Japanese. Similarly, Our physical lives are sustained by positive life force energy referred to as "Ki" in Japanese (a.k.a Chi or Prana in other languages). These two Japanese characters are joined to form the definition of Reiki. Reiki is a way of channeling positive life force energy which is spiritually guided to where it is most needed for the highest good of the recipient.
